Aspen Golf Course experience

I kicked off this past weekend by teeing off at altitude at the Aspen Golf and Tennis Club. At over 7,000 feet, your ball really flies farther because of the thinner air composition. Lately, we have had a heat wave, but I was more comfortable than expected in the 80+ degree, sunny and dry weather. The slight breeze was also a nice touch. It is always great to have a relaxed partner (Andrea)to share in a laugh with the well-known follies of amateaur golfing. We reflected on some of the memorable moments over a cold beer at Schlomo's after our round.

Overall, the Golf Course was nicely cared for. The grass was well maintained, greens consistent and the staff were very friendly and eager to help ensure a pleasant experience for all. I liked the fact that the "Marshall" was known as a "Player's Assistant" and turned out to be more of an interesting conversationalist than a traditional time/rules keeper.

This is a great course with excellent 360 degree views of the Roaring Fork Valley, Maroon Bells, and surrounding ski areas. If you are visting the area and looking for great golf deal in Aspen call Stay Aspen Snowmass and use your American Express to save 15%.

Summer rolls on in Aspen / Snowmass

The summer in Aspen / Snowmass got off to a great start this year with an early and very successful, though a bit drizzly, Food & Wine Magazine Classic in Aspen. The Aspen Music Festival and School kicked off shortly after that, followed by the Jazz Aspen / Snowmass June Festival in downtown Aspen. The eyes of the world turned to Aspen for the Aspen Ideas Festival in early July.

There's been no lack of activity over in Snowmass either. Snowmass has seen Chili Pepper Fest, Westfest, the Snowmass Wellness Experience, and the beginning of their summer-long free concert series. This weekend NORBA racers descend on Snowmass for the Snowmass National.

Upcoming events in Aspen / Snowmass include the US Open Mountainboarding Championships, Blast the Mass mountain bike races, the 33rd Annual MotherLode Volleyball classic, the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Festival, the 39th Annual Aspen Ruggerfest, and much, much more.

For us locals, this seemingly endless schedule of events can be a bit overwhelming. Don't get me wrong, I've had nothing but fun this summer, and there's more to come, but sometimes I think it would be nice to have a free weekend to plan for myself! With so much going on, one can't go to absolutely everything. As for me, you'll be sure to find me dancing at the Jazz Aspen concerts, watching bikers bomb down the mountain at Blast the Mass, jamming at the Snowmass free concerts, and standing on the sidelines watching the world's largest and meanest looking men battle it out on the rugby field. Sprinkle in a few Aspen Filmfest flicks, free concerts on the lawn at the Aspen Music Festival, some hiking, rafting, biking and mountain climbing, and you've got the recipe for my (20th or so) perfect summer in Aspen / Snowmass.

I'm gonna need a vacation after this...

Snowmass Base Village Updates

A good question was raised about what we can expect for this November in terms of lifts, etc. for Base Village.

All of the NEW lifts are currently on schedule to be load tested this November 12th. Basically there will be no interruption for skiers/riders and they can expect to see a large construction fence from the bottom of Fanny Hill where the admin building and Lot A used to exist.

More in-depth information at www.aspensnowmass.com/constructionupdates.
