ASPEN FILMFEST'S Summer Scene Stealer

The latest press release from the Aspen Filmfest.

BIS06_Anjelica_DogCU_150.jpgIt's no secret that the summer arts and culture "to-do" list is a mile long during Aspen's busiest season, but there is one event everyone will be talking about. Sure to steal the spotlight is Aspen Filmfest's Best in Show, a one-of-a-kind celebrity-infused public art event.

Aspen Filmfest is unleashing the talents of celebrity artists to paint life-size Labrador retrievers. The dogs will be displayed throughout Aspen and neighboring communities before being auctioned off, with proceeds supporting Aspen Filmfest's year-round youth education programs. Celebrities already signed-on to showcase their artistic talents include Jack Nicholson, Kathy Bates, Candice Bergen, Ed Bradley, Pierce Brosnan, Mariah Carey, Kevin Costner, Snoop Dogg, Sally Field, Morgan Freeman, Goldie Hawn, Salma Hayek, Anjelica Huston, Don Johnson, Nick Lachey, Joaquin Phoenix, Bob Rafelson, celebrity chef Rachel Ray, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Joel Schumacher and Jill St. John.

Organized by Aspen Filmfest - the non-profit arts organization that brings big name talent, movie debuts, festivals and film series to Aspen - Best in Show Labradors will launch June 14th at an official Press & Adoption Party, followed by a feature in the 4th of July parade down Main Street. The "star" dogs will then be auctioned off on August 1st in Aspen - the proceeds of which will support Aspen Filmfest's extensive year-round youth education programs.

For those not able to attend the benefit auction, additional celebrity dogs will be auctioned off-online-through Charity Folks (www.charityfolks.com) September 4 - 20, 2006. Look for Aspen Filmfest's Best in Show splash page on the Charity Folks website starting in June.

Aspen Filmfest's Best in Show is generously supported by the following businesses and individuals: Susan Horsey, Bob Klineman, Brady Foundation, Stewart Title, Ellen Hunt, Basalt Bistro, Isberian Rug Company, Aspen Moving & Storage, High Tone Automotive, Lynda Palevsky, Ingrid Antoni Designs, Mark Richards, Hidden Jewel, Bloomingbird's, North of Nell, BJ Adams, SnuggleMe.com, The Silvertree Hotel, Epicurious, Elizabeth Foundation, Roaring Fork Lodging Company, Mason & Morse, and Otten Johnson Robinson et al.
