(Snowmass Village, CO) World-class mountain bike racing action returns to Snowmass Village, Colorado with race number 5 in the Yeti Cycles Mountain States Cup Regional Championship Series, the Blast the Mass Mountain Challenge.

The very best Cross-Country, Downhill, Mountain Cross and Super-D riders in the Rocky Mountain region will head to Snowmass Village and its incredible terrain to vie for series points in what is widely regarded as the best series in North America. The competition at this year's event promises to heat up even more with Blast the Mass event being designated by USA Cycling as the official Colorado State Championships. "Blast" will also be a stop on The American Mountain Bike Challenge Series (AMBC) circuit, offering Junior Olympic and National Championship qualifying opportunities for kids and athletes of all ages.

The event kicks off with a "Welcome to Snowmass!" party on Friday night and competition begins Saturday AM with the Big Burn Cross-Country. Riders of all abilities will compete for cash and prizes on this incredible course, which includes some of Colorado's best single track. Immediately following the Big Burn XC is The Fanny Hill Mountain Cross where fearless gravity riders battle head to head on a man made course 4 at a time. Expect plenty of big air and lots of elbow-rubbing action. Capping off Saturday's events is the annual "Biker Bash" on Snowmass Village's concert lawn. Starting at 6PM the party features beer, BBQ and mountain bike video premiers to wow the crowd.

Sunday promises a showcasing of the best downhillers in the Rockies on some of the gnarliest terrain in the world. The Banzai Downhill, held on one of the most challenging and storied DH courses in North America pits competitors against both the clock and the mountain. Riders start at the very top and race to the bottom at breakneck speeds negotiating the steeps of Snowmass in their quest for the fastest run.

Blast the Mass includes two free kid's races and non-competitive rides for the whole family. For more information please visit www.racemsc.com, phone Cycle Cyndicate at 303-432-1519 or email mike@cyclecyndicate.com.
