WHAT'S NEW AT ASPEN/SNOWMASS

Here is the latest news from Aspen Skiing Company:

Snowmass -
GondolaThe renaissance of Snowmass continues this season with the sleek, new eight-person Elk Camp Gondola - bringing guests from the new base village to the top of the Elk Camp Meadows in 8.5 minutes. Combined with last season's new Village Express six-pack and Sky Cab gondola, the lift network at Snowmass promises to whisk you up the mountain almost as fast as you can come down! Other on-mountain upgrades for 2006-2007 include a new and improved terrain park and halfpipe area while future projects such as the new Elk Camp Meadows activity center and the new Sam's Knob restaurant are just a season away.

With development underway on the new base village at Snowmass, families and guests alike will soon be able to enjoy a 25,000-square-foot adventure center, a 15,000 square-foot conference space and 64,000 square feet of shops, pubs and restaurants - all connected to the upper village by a two-minute gondola ride via the new Sky Cab.

Aspen -
new aspen gondolaAfter decades of faithful service, the Aspen Mountain gondola has received a complete overhaul with, most notably, 147 new Swiss made cabins, hung during the Spring of 2006. The new six-person cabins offer more interior space and floor-to-ceiling windows to soak in the surrounding vistas before plunging down the slopes.

Highlands -
Unveiled last season, the Deep Temerity triple chair at Aspen Highlands serves up some of the steepest lift-serviced skiing and riding in North America - opening up hundreds of acres of gladed and powdery terrain that, until now, remained inaccessible. For 2006-2007 additional acres will be added, solidifying this newly famous region as a must-hit for advanced or expert guests. After burning your way down Deep Temerity's 1,700 vertical feet, you'll find the speedy 7.3-minute ride back to the top a welcome respite.

Buttermilk -
As the undisputed home of the ESPN Winter X Games through 2010, Buttermilk's terrain park delivers the big features that have turned several local kids into both Olympians and X Games super stars. Outside of the park and pipe, Buttermilk remains North America's most ideal family learning destination, serviced primarily by the new West Buttermilk Express detachable quad chairlift as well as hundreds of friendly staff and instructors.
