(Snowmass Village, CO) A taste of Old Europe comes to Snowmass Village with the third annual Oktoberfest presented by Grolsch celebration Saturday, September 9. Pull out your lederhosen, your beer steins, and your best dancing shoes as Snowmass pays tribute to the harvest season with a busy all-day outdoor festival to celebrate the changing colors.

"This is the only Oktoberfest celebration in the Roaring Fork Valley that we know of, and it's becoming an autumn tradition in Snowmass, much like Mardi Gras is to February or St. Paddy,s Day is to March," says Susan Hamley, Marketing Director for Snowmass Village, "Oktoberfest is an excellent excuse to get outside and enjoy the crisp fall air and gorgeous fall views in Snowmass."

Oktoberfest runs from 12-6 pm in the Snowmass Village Mall with free live music and dance performances, beer provided for sale by Widmer Hefeweizen, Redhook ESB, Grolsch, and Bud Light, and kids activities all day long. Penny the Face Painter, Jammin' Jim the Juggler and Kimothy the Stilt Walker ensure the kids have a fabulous time, while parents and adults can check out the frothy brews in tents set up along the mall. The Stew Pot and the Silvertree Hotel will offer traditional fare such as German sausages, home-made German potato salad, and sauerkraut as well.

The music kicks off at noon with Alpine Echo playing traditional German polka tunes. They play again from 2-3 pm. At 1 pm and 4 pm, the D'Miesbacher OIM Taler German Dance Group perform traditional "Schuhplatte" or shoe patting dances.

At 5 p.m. at the Ticket Pavilion at the end of the Snowmass Village Mall, the vibe changes as the popular New Orleans group Papa Grows Funk plays a 90 minute set of music ranging from Mardi Gras funk to rhythm & blues classics to original material and jams. Papa Grows Funk recently wowed audiences as part of the Snowmass Summer of Free Music Series, and they round out a great day in Snowmass for music lovers and party goers. Following the music, don't forget to stop by one of Snowmass' many restaurants for dinner choices ranging from pizza to fine dining.
