Aspen to host inaugural bikeboard open

ASPEN - Buttermilk will play host to the first U.S. Bikeboard Open this weekend, with $500 up for grabs as the top purse for in both men's and women's boardercross competition.
The bikeboard - sort of a snowboard outfitted with handlebars — is the product of a Swiss manufacturer that is hosting the races. Competitors will have a chance to practice riding a bikeboard before Sunday’s competition. Training and qualifying takes place Saturday; registration and the first training occurs Friday.
Registration is $25 for those will a full Aspen/Snowmass season ski pass, and $125 for those without a pass. The fee includes use of a bikeboard for the race and a party on Sunday; the $125 fee includes a three-day ski pass. Register at Buttermilk.
