BROADWAY'S PAIGE PRICE AND HADLEY FRASER STAR IN THEATRE ASPEN'S "THE LAST FIVE YEARS"
July 30, 2007 (Aspen, Colo.) - Leading Broadway musical theatre stars Paige Price and Hadley Fraser will star in Theatre Aspen's production of the two-hander musical The Last Five Years, by Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown, directed by David Ledingham.
The show opens with previews on August 7th, a gala opening on August 9th and runs in repertory through September 1st at the Theatre Tent in Rio Grande Park, Aspen. Tickets are available in advance at the Wheeler Opera House Box Office 970-920-5770.
A thoroughly modern musical play, The Last Five Years chronicles the romance between Jamie (Hadley Fraser) and Cathy (Paige Price). The show's unconventional structure - Cathy's story is told backwards while Jamie's is chronological - allows the audience to view their relationship in a fresh and revealing way. A combination of gorgeous music and world-class performances by Price and Fraser make this one of the most extraordinary professional theatre happenings that Aspen has ever seen.
Paige Price is a star of Broadway musical theatre with credits including Broadway's Saturday Night Fever, Smokey Joe's Café and the original cast of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. In addition to her prestigious Broadway career, Price has extensive regional credits, including Anything Goes, A Chorus Line, Crazy For You and 42nd Street, as well as substantial experience in film, television and commercials. Price is also a producer - her credits include Broadway Under the Stars in Central Park (also on CBS) and Broadway Rocks Chicago. Price also has a solo career and will perform (at the Theatre tent in August) her highly successful one-woman comedy with music, The eX-Files about the havoc that a career in show business has wreaked upon her love life.
Hadley Fraser comes to Aspen fresh from Broadway, where he wowed audiences as the male lead of The Pirate Queen, a musical epic by the Les Miserables and Miss Saigon team. Fraser has been a fixture on the British theatre scene with extensive West End, regional and European theatre experience including Pacific Overtures (Leicester Haymarket), Assassins at the Sheffield Crucible (TMA nominated), Les Miserables at the Palace Theatre, The Pirates of Penzance (Savoy Theatre) and many others.

U.S. OPEN MOUNTAINBOARDING CHAMPIONSHIPS CELEBRATE 5 YEARS IN SNOWMASS
New timed downhill event adds high speed thrills to July 26-28 competitions
SNOWMASS VILLAGE, Colo. - Snowmass Village and MBS Mountainboards are proud to bring the Paul Mitchell U.S. Open Mountainboarding Championships to Snowmass Village, Colorado, for the fifth consecutive year on July 26-28, 2007. Snowmass Village is the premier mountainboarding destination in the U.S. with beginner and professional terrain parks, the only lift-served professional boardercross course in the nation, and lessons and rentals available all summer long through Camp Aspen/ Snowmass.
"Snowmass is the leader in mountainboarding with this championship and the camp," says event director Mitch Stegall. "It's the top resort in developing mountainboarding parks, rentals, and lifts for mountainboarders and this is by far the nation's largest mountainboarding event with the world's best riders competing head-to-head."
The young sport of mountainboarding blends the freestyle aspects of skateboarding and the carving and racing aspects of snowboarding with the off road terrain and trails of BMX and mountain biking. As the U.S.'s longest running mountainboarding championships celebrates a "Decade of Dirt," it will draw the best mountainboarders in the nation and internationally to compete for cash and prizes in Dirt Boardercross, Dirt Slopestyle, and the NEW Mass Start Downhill competition. The Eric Smith Cup will be awarded to the overall champion in the men's pro division along with the sport's largest cash purse going to the top three finishers in each discipline in the men's pro and women's divisions.
The 2005 and 2006 competitions were filmed by JSP TV in association with Paul Mitchell for a 30 minute show that aired on Altitude network and Comcast Entertainment television. Plans are in the works once again to produce a top notch televised event in 2007 featuring the best riders in the sport including seven time national champion Jason Lee, two time U.S. Open Champion Jereme Leafe and current US Open champion Leon Robbins battling it out for the title along with many others.
Dirt Boardercross or DBX consists of heats of four mountainboarders charging head to head out of the drop gates and wheel to wheel down Snowmass' custom-built world class dirt course. The course features rollers, bermed turns and tabletop jumps constructed out of hot dirt instead of frozen snow. In Dirt Slopestyle the riders launch off of multiple dirt jumps and bust huge aerials, while adding the extra challenge of rail slides and a quarter-pipe into the mix. The NEW Mass Start Downhill features a complete division of riders starting all at once at the top of Snowmass Ski Area and racing down the mountain trails to the finish line.
The action starts July 23 and 24 with the return of the Camp Snowmass Mountainboard Camp featuring coaching from top pro riders Jereme Leafe and Kody Stewart, and Camp Snowmass expert coaches. July 26th is qualifying day with Mass Start Downhill action, and a free slope side concert will end a day of dirt ripping action. Friday features high-speed DBX racing and DirtSlopestyle action. Saturday is finals day for the competitions with awards ceremonies and parties in Snowmass Village.
In addition to the competitions, the weekend in Snowmass offers free live music, DJs, discounted lodging packages, a special kid's mountainboard camp, daily mountainboarding product demos, kayaking, fly fishing, lift access for hiking, mountain biking, two 18-hole disc golf courses, paint ball, kids' activities, after hours video parties at the Snowmass Village Mall and more.
Snowmass was the first Colorado resort to open lifts and trails to mountainboards in 2002 and today the Camp Snowmass program is the largest mountainboard camp in the U.S. with a staff of five certified coaches and a fleet of 50 MBS boards. The camp teaches 20 to 40 children a day throughout the summer using the custom built terrain park, the boardercross course, and the Burlingame chairlift to access the mountain trails. Lessons for both children and adults are available all summer long.

Bill Clinton to attend RMI anniversary bash
Former President Bill Clinton will participate in the celebration of the Rocky Mountain Institute's 25th anniversary. The institute's anniversary will be commemorated over a two-day period in an event titled "RMI25: Celebrating Solutions" on Aug. 9-10. It will include a free, public "RMI Quest for Solutions" presentation as well as an all-day symposium in Aspen and a gala event at the Peace Ranch outside Basalt. In the mid-1990s, RMI worked for Clinton in an effort to "green" the White House and the old Executive Building. Today, RMI is working with him again on the Clinton Climate Initiative. The Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) applies the Clinton Foundation's business-oriented approach to fight climate change in practical, measurable and significant ways. The first phase of the initiative is focused on reducing greenhouse-gas emissions in the world's largest cities. RMI will be offering technical expertise focusing on a whole systems approach to making buildings more energy efficient as part as CCI's first program -- an energy efficiency building retrofit program. In addition to Clinton, more than 20 luminaries will attend the celebration, including Thomas Friedman of the New York Times, Christine Loh of Hong Kong's Civic Exchange, and Boston Scientific co-founder John Abele.

Many dealers have received national recognition by media including Maine Antique Digest, Country Living, Ski Magazine, Northwest Style Magazine and on television shows such as on HGTV's Garden series.
"These dealers are nationally recognized and very good," says Nyholm-Vidano, "Some antique shows in this area are very expensive and not for every one. Most important to note is that this show has something for everyone."
The Snowmass Antiques Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday and takes place on the Snowmass Village Mall.

Free Snowmagical family fun fest brings award-winning performers, Rail Jam, and hogwarts Hype to town
Free Snowmagical family fun fest brings award-winning performers, Rail Jam, and hogwarts Hype to town
SNOWMASS VILLAGE, Colo. - Heading into its second quarter century, the 26th annual Snowmagical Family Fun Fest July 20 -21 continues its tradition of nonstop family fun but visitors will find it in a new location this year. After 25 years on the Snowmass Village Mall, the Saturday festivities are moving to the grassy fields near the new Snowmass Recreation Center.
"We're excited about the festival's potential with this move," says event organizer and award-winning magician Doc Eason. "Moving the event to Town Park is like taking the lid off a popcorn popper. I think this will be a quantum leap for this popular event. The lineup of talent is simply tremendous, and with exciting new offerings and collaborations as well."
Over a dozen entertainers and magicians are headed to town July 20 to 21 for a packed schedule of free performances and interactive fun. The award-winning music duo The Swingset Mamas, whose song Sunscreen Dance was recently chosen as the official theme for the EPA's Sunwise Program, will perform songs that tap into the most fundamental joys and struggles of parents and their children. Bob Sheets, the original Jolly Jester who founded the now-defunct Tower Restaurant's magic bar 32 years ago, returns as does talented storyteller Denise Berry-Hanna. Magic-wielding maestros for the festival include Doc Eason, Mike T., Wayne Francis, Marty Wayne, Cliff Tiffany, Ann Lincoln, John T. Sheets, Darren Flores, Tammy Baar, Marty McDowell, Scott Macray, Mack Eason, Lew Wymisner, Eric Mead, and Jammin Jim.
The fun kicks off on Friday night with the biggest Harry Potter book release celebration in the Roaring Fork Valley. The Snowmass Village Mall turns into Hogwarts with magicians and street performers offering impromptu shows. As the sun sets, Denise Berry-Hanna regales families with her magical tall tales and the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire plays, followed by the release of the final book in the Harry Potter series at the stroke of midnight at Snowmass Photo & Books. Books can be pre-ordered ahead of time for pick-up at 12:01am. All little muggles attending on Friday night receive a free magic wand.
On Saturday, the fun continues down by the Snowmass Recreation Center starting at 9 a.m. Rocky Mountain Martial Arts students perform their Soo Bak Do presentation at 9:30 a.m., followed by back-to-back magic performances. Ventriloquists, illusionists, clowns, and lunatic pranksters rule the day, while free afternoon puppet and juggling workshops are also available for free.
NEW! This year the DNA Evolution Tour, the biggest U.S. amateur freeskiing tour of the summer, will be stopping by the festival from 12-3 pm. This ski & snowboard rail jam making 23 stops across the west takes place on an enormous 30 x 80 ramp of rails and rollers promising amateurs the chance to catch big air and practice their best winter moves. The competition is open to all amateurs and includes a $500 cash purse first prize and "best trick" and "best trick—13 years and under" awards.
Families seeking a little poolside action also can visit the new Snowmass Recreation Center on Saturday from 12-4 pm for the discounted price of $6/person.
The festival concludes back on the Snowmass Village Mall where magicians roam table-side at participating restaurants at the Magic Dine-Around (Zanes, Margarita Grill, Stewpot, Big Hoss, Mountain Dragon, il Poggio, Brothers Grill, Artisan). The 9 p.m. Magic Cabaret draws all these talented performers together at the Stonebridge Inn for a final extravaganza. The Cabaret cost $5/person and is the only performance of the entire festival that is not free.
"Providing value to our visitors is extremely important to Snowmass, and the Snowmagical Family Fun Fest is a perfect example," says Susan Hamley, Marketing Director for the town of Snowmass Village. "This is one of the best free family events in the state, and families will appreciate being able to combine the event with all of Snowmass' other activities to create a magical weekend of memories."
