SUMMIT FOR LIFE KICKOFF PARTY THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25th 5-8 PM AT THE CANTINA

Summit for Life - December 1, 2007
Benefiting the Chris Klug Foundation and the American Transplant Foundation

Aspen, CO - On Thursday, October 25th from 5-8 pm a kickoff party will be held at the Cantina to jumpstart the festivities for the 2nd annual Aspen Summit for Life. This year's race and concert will benefit the Chris Klug Foundation and the American Transplant Foundation. At the party people can register and sign up to volunteer for the race, meet Olympian Chris Klug, and very importantly, register as an organ and tissue donor, while enjoying complimentary food and drink. The Summit for Life Kickoff party is made possible with the help of the Cantina and its phenomenal staff and Anheuser-Busch, Inc.

Summit for Life is a night time race from the base to the summit of Aspen Mountain - 3,267 vertical feet over 2.5 miles on December 1st at 6:00 pm. Racers can use their preferred choice of lighting and non-motorized equipment - snowshoes, skins and other creative means.

'I am thrilled to once again take part in the Aspen Summit for Life event," remarks last year's winner Bernie Boettcher, a professional trail runner and snowshoe racer. "Running up Aspen Mountain in the dark: it's like uncorking a jar full of steam-breathing fireflies, each participant rising up the slopes under the power of their own glowing headlamps…It's a light that could save someone's life."

When racers reach the summit, there will be dinner, refreshments, live music and an awards party. There is a $40 registration fee and an additional $160 in pledges for each participant, but racers are encouraged to raise more as top fundraisers will win great prizes.

Supporters can also partake in the party on top of Aspen Mountain by signing up to "Ride for Life" and take the gondola up. Tickets to the party cost $60 for adults, $35 for children and children 3 years old and under ride for free. A portion of each ticket is tax deductible.

"For me the event is a celebration of life because without on organ donor I would not be here today,' said Michael Wells. "This year is my 8th anniversary of my "Gift of Life" and what a better way to celebrate than a 3,500 foot hike straight up Aspen Mountain promoting organ donation awareness."

Those who are not able to come celebrate at the Cantina can register for the uphill race; donate to the cause or to learn more about Aspen Summit for Life 2007 by visiting: www.SummitForLife.org or contact Holly at (970) 300.4741 or at Holly.Upper@gmail.com.
