LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN

Tanner Hall Wins Skiing Men's SuperPipe; Takes Home Record Seventh Winter X Games Gold Medal

Aspen, Colo. - Twenty-four-year-old Tanner Hall fended off tough competition from Simon Dumont to win the Skiing Men's SuperPipe Final tonight, and he took home his record seventh ESPN Winter X Games gold medal in the process.

Thick snow fell on Aspen/Snowmass as Hall put down a second run that netted him a score of 92.33. Starting from skier's left, he got seven hits out of the pipe (compared to five for Dumont), taking a right side 900 into a left side 1260 with grab, then finishing with a backside 1080.

Hall now holds 10 total Winter X Games medals, including seven golds. He's achieved a three-peat in both the Men's SuperPipe and the Men's Slopestyle, and he currently holds the most gold medals of any Winter X athlete.

Dumont's third run, the last of the competition, wowed the crowd and included a monstrous 20'2" vert out of the pipe on a 720 grab - but his 91.00 on the run couldn't overtake Hall.

"My drive this year was to train for this one event," Hall said. "I'm 24 years old, and at this point this is one of my last big goals at X Games."

Winter X Games 12 will air live January 24 - 27 on ESPN and ABC.
